On 8 November 2025, the 10th Guike Annual Conference commenced with great ceremony in the Third Floor Auditorium of the Beijing National Convention Centre. Centred on the theme ‘Benchmarking the Future: China's Legal Profession Embarking on the Path to World-Class Law Firms’, the conference both honoured a decade of dedicated endeavour and served as a summit dialogue focusing on the international transformation of China's legal sector. Co-hosted by Guike Academy in collaboration with the China University of Political Science and Law's Centre for Legal Studies, Legal Master, and Xinzhe, with JAVY Law Firm serving as co-organiser, this Guike Annual Conference brought together leading legal figures, industry elites, and academic luminaries. Its purpose was to collectively explore pathways for industry advancement, chart a blueprint for building world-class law firms, and inject fresh momentum into the high-quality development of China's legal profession.

During the roundtable discussion themed ‘Benchmarking Excellence: The Mission and Responsibility of Large-Scale Law Firms,’ Director Zhao Cenghai articulated the true value of a large-scale law firm from the perspective of a managing partner with practical experience. He emphasised that the worth of a large-scale law firm lies not in the mere accumulation of personnel or branch offices, but in its ability to fulfil two fundamental yet profound missions: ensuring clients tangibly experience fairness and justice, and enabling lawyers to lead fulfilling lives. These missions are mutually reinforcing and form the core challenges a firm must confront and resolve on its path to ‘benchmarking against the best’.

Director Zhao Cenghai emphasised that clients' trust in a law firm stems from each instance of professional, efficient, and consistently high-quality service. Large-scale law firms must translate the concept of ‘fairness and justice’ into tangible value that clients can genuinely perceive. This requires: - Focusing on specialisation to deliver “certainty” in value to clients; - Breaking down silos through collaboration to achieve rapid, ‘boundary-free’ service responses; and cultivate a mindset of dedicated craftsmanship to forge sustainable trust with clients.

Director Zhao Cenghai asserted that lawyers constitute a firm's most valuable asset. If lawyers face stifled growth and lack a sense of belonging, even the largest firms cannot endure. The essence of ‘lawyer well-being’ extends beyond income levels to encompass professional dignity, guaranteed growth support, and profound inner recognition. Using Jiawei Law Firm as an example, he outlined three pillars essential for achieving ‘lawyer well-being’: first, the vision of a strategist to build sustainable growth platforms for lawyers; second, the courage of a reformer to dismantle mechanisms stifling lawyers' vitality; and third, the patience of a bricklayer to accompany each lawyer's development journey.
