Amidst the ongoing advancement of national fertility policies and steady societal development, women who have given birth now face numerous new challenges and uncertainties in areas such as child-rearing, career progression, safeguarding family assets, and protecting personal rights. To address the difficulties encountered by women with children during the parenting process, provide professional legal support, and actively uphold its public welfare mission, JAVY Law Firm successfully hosted the ‘Her Strength, Like Flowers in Bloom – Legal and Art Salon for Women with Children’ event on 6 November 2025.

Ms Zhu Yuxian, Partner at JAVY Law Firm and Chairperson of the Marriage and Family Law Committee, delivered a keynote speech. Sharing guests included Wang Li and Li Yu, members of the Marriage and Family Law Committee, alongside Wang Qiming, member of the Criminal-Civil Intersection Committee. Specially invited as floral art instructors were Professor Kohara-ryū, Head of the Kohara School of Ikebana, and Tian Wenlan, Founder and Director of Beijing Shuilan Shan Ikebana. Cao Jia, Manager of the Administrative and Human Resources Department at Jiawei Law Firm, served as the event host.

Commencing the proceedings, Attorney Zhu Yuxian delivered a presentation entitled ‘Establishing a Child Support System: The Role and Value of Lawyers within the Family Support Framework’. She provided a detailed overview of the components constituting a child's ‘support system’, emphasising that a child's development relies upon the interwoven and mutually reinforcing influence of three fundamental pillars: the family system, the economic system, and the social system. These form the interconnected roots collectively underpinning the entire child support framework.
Subsequently, Ms Zhu conducted an in-depth analysis of the legal support framework for the minor care system. She highlighted that in judicial practice, disputes in care-related litigation predominantly centre on three key rights: custody, maintenance payments, and access rights. Additionally, disputes concerning parentage and kinship are also common points of contention. She emphasised that within the family care framework, solicitors can not only provide professional litigation services but also serve as partners and co-creators in establishing the child's care system, safeguarding the healthy development of minors.
In the floral arrangement session, Master Tian Wenlan began with the question ‘What is Ikebana?’ to guide participants in experiencing the transformations of nature and life. By introducing the history and stylistic characteristics of the Ohara School of Ikebana, she demonstrated how floral art heightens one's sensitivity to the beauty of the world. During the practical session, Master Tian personally guided attendees in creating their own floral arrangements.
The venue was filled with the fragrance of flowers, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere as every participant immersed themselves in the aesthetic beauty of the art.

During the roundtable discussion, solicitors Zhu Yuxian, Wang Li, Li Yu, and Wang Qiming engaged in an in-depth exchange on pressing legal issues.

Ms Wang Li focused on the current state of child support disputes in judicial practice. Grounding her analysis in the fundamental principles of the Civil Code, she detailed several statutory scenarios warranting child support claims through representative case studies. She emphasised that while judicial practice evolves with socioeconomic development and legal philosophy, safeguarding minors' legitimate rights remains the core mission of legal practice and a cornerstone of lawyers' social responsibility.

Ms Zhu Yuxian addressed legal issues concerning the establishment of parentage. She emphasised that confirming parentage underpins the foundation of child custody arrangements and impacts family harmony and stability. Resolving such matters requires lawful and reasonable approaches.

Ms Li Yu focused on the impact of childbirth on women's careers, delving into issues such as gender discrimination encountered during workplace entry and recruitment processes. She also provided a detailed overview of the legislative background, objectives, and scope of relevant laws, offering participants a systematic and comprehensive understanding of the legal safeguards for women's workplace rights. This provides a robust legal foundation for women to uphold their professional entitlements.

Attorney Wang Qiming emphasised the critical importance of protecting minors and preventing school bullying. Drawing on real-world cases, he provided strategies for mothers to safeguard their children's legal rights. These approaches encompassed pre-emptive prevention, immediate response, and post-incident redress, aiming to establish a comprehensive legal protection framework for children to grow in safe and healthy environments.

At the event's conclusion, Manager Cao Jia remarked that this gathering not only provided professional legal consultation for mothers but also allowed attendees to unwind amidst artistic enrichment. She sincerely hoped today's occasion would encourage every mother to pause, savouring the warmth of protection amidst floral scents and legal wisdom. May the law nurture the nurturer's heart, and may every mother be treated gently by time and steadfastly safeguarded by the law.
