Recently, our partner Wei Wei Esq. received a commendation banner from the parties involved. The banner reads "Guardian of Justice" expressing the parties' full recognition of Ms. Wei's commitment to upholding fairness and justice, providing professional and efficient legal services, and demonstrating diligence and responsibility in her profession. This is a high praise for her work as a lawyer.
In 2023, Zhao, a young woman in her twenties, was deceived by her colleague Li, who borrowed over 700,000 yuan under false pretenses such as business and urgent medical needs, then disappeared. This money was Zhao's parents' savings for buying a house, leading to severe financial difficulties and debts for Zhao's family. After learning that Li had been arrested for criminal activities, Zhao struggled to seek justice due to Li's fabricated identity and details.
In spring, Zhao and her mother met Ms. Wei by chance. They were in a desperate state, having used their savings intended for a new house. Zhao's request was to recover her money quickly, placing their last hope in the lawyer.
Ms. Wei analyzed the case, explained legal approaches and challenges, including unclear liability and procedural risks. She initiated civil litigation and coordinated with authorities to track Li's situation, eventually reaching a settlement for staggered repayments. By the end of 2023, Zhao and her mother received substantial repayment, bringing peace and new hope.
Ms. Wei emphasized the commonality of cases involving fraudulent loans/investments and the challenges victims face in seeking justice. She stressed the importance of caution and seeking professional advice promptly to protect individual rights and avoid such situations in the future.
