May this year marks the sixth National Civil Code Awareness Month. In active response to the call for legal awareness campaigns issued by the Dezhou Municipal Bureau of Justice, and to ensure the study and promotion of the Civil Code is carried out thoroughly and effectively, lawyers from JAVY’s Dezhou branch have actively engaged with government agencies, enterprises and communities. Through a multi-faceted approach combining “specialised lectures, on-site consultations and the distribution of leaflets”, they have organised numerous public awareness activities on the Civil Code. By leveraging their professional expertise to convey the warmth of the rule of law, they have ensured the Civil Code truly becomes part of people’s daily lives and safeguards the development of enterprises.

01 Legal Awareness in Every Home, Services at Your Doorstep

To further advance legal services for the benefit of the people and ensure that legal awareness campaigns reach the grassroots, the law firm’s Party branch partnered with Runde Community in Xinhua Subdistrict to jointly organise a themed legal awareness campaign titled “A Better Life with the Civil Code”. At the event, lawyer Fu Jinglei focused on the core provisions of the General Provisions section of the Civil Code, addressing high-frequency legal issues in people’s daily lives. Drawing on real-life cases, she provided clear and accessible interpretations of legal provisions concerning common scenarios such as neighbourhood disputes, maintenance and inheritance, objects being thrown from heights, marriage and family matters, and property rights. The presentation was delivered in plain language with content closely tied to everyday life, effectively helping community residents understand the law and clarify their rights and responsibilities, ensuring that everyone could understand, learn and apply the information.

02 On-site Consultation: One-to-One Protection of Residents’ Rights

This legal awareness campaign was grounded in grassroots communities and closely aligned with residents’ daily lives. Led by the firm’s director, Liu Yaqi, and Party Branch Secretary Hu Xiaoyan, a team of lawyers set up an information point at the community entrance and conducted door-to-door visits within the residential blocks to carry out comprehensive offline legal outreach. The legal team distributed Civil Code leaflets to passers-by and residents, providing face-to-face guidance on basic legal knowledge and addressing various legal queries. Additionally, they offered dedicated one-to-one legal consultations for key groups such as the elderly and housewives, patiently resolving legal concerns in people’s daily lives. This ensured the Civil Code reached every household, resonated with the public, and became a solid ‘legal safeguard’ for their well-being.

03 Presentations to Government Bodies and Enterprises: Strengthening Compliance Defences

To precisely empower government bodies in fulfilling their duties and support enterprises in building compliance frameworks, Bai Ge Lawyers visited Dezhou Customs and Shandong Shunhua Construction Group Co., Ltd. to deliver tailored, thematic presentations on the Civil Code. By illustrating legal principles through case studies and explaining provisions through reasoned analysis, the firm provided targeted assistance to help these organisations mitigate legal risks and consolidate their foundations in the rule of law.

04 Deepening Public Interest Legal Education, Demonstrating the Firm’s Commitment

This series of activities for the Civil Code Awareness Month covered multiple scenarios including community welfare, government duties and corporate operations.
