Recently, Ms Wang Ying, a solicitor from JAVY Law Firm, was invited to the Beida Community in Zhenghuangqi to deliver an informative, engaging and practical legal awareness session on marriage and inheritance law for local residents.

During the event, Ms Wang Ying provided a clear and accessible explanation of the sections on marriage and family, and inheritance, within the Civil Code. Regarding the Marriage and Family section, Ms Wang provided a detailed interpretation of key provisions such as invalid marriages, voidable marriages, joint marital property and debts, and child maintenance and visitation rights. Through specific case studies, she vividly demonstrated how legal provisions apply in real life, enabling residents to gain a more intuitive and profound understanding of marriage and family law.
In the section on the Inheritance Part, Ms Wang Ying focused on topics such as methods of inheritance, the types and validity of wills, and circumstances leading to the loss of inheritance rights. She particularly emphasised the importance of wills, noting that they are an effective means for testators to independently dispose of their personal property and ensure that estates are distributed according to their wishes. At the same time, Ms Wang introduced various methods of inheritance, including intestate succession, testamentary succession, bequests, and maintenance agreements, helping residents gain a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework governing inheritance.
This legal awareness campaign was a resounding success in the Beida Community of Zhenghuangqi, not only enhancing residents’ legal awareness but also laying a solid foundation for advancing the rule of law within the community.
