On 30 April 2026, a delegation from the School of Humanities at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, comprising Zhang Xiaoyong, Party Secretary of the School; Gao Peng, Deputy Director of the Party School Office; Wu Tao, Deputy Party Secretary of the School; and representatives of staff and students, visited JAVY Law Firm. Zhao Cenghai, Director of JAVY Law Firm, along with lawyers Yuan Jun, Yang Lige and Gao Feng, and Ma Jia, Director of Strategic Development, warmly received the visiting guests. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on deepening university-firm cooperation, consolidating the achievements of governing the university in accordance with the law, and promoting the development of the rule of law in the medical and health sectors.

Zhao Cenghai, Director of JAVY Law Firm, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and provided a detailed introduction to the firm’s history, honours and achievements, scale and structure, and the development of its branch offices. He noted that although the two parties operate in different sectors, they share natural common ground, highly complementary resources and vast scope for cooperation under the overarching theme of ‘medicine, healthcare and public health’. He proposed three areas of potential cooperation: firstly, to jointly establish a practical teaching base, providing students from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine with a real-world platform for legal practice; secondly, to focus on the development of medical and health law, promoting the deep integration of university legal theory with the practical experience of law firms; and thirdly, to explore regular interdisciplinary exchange mechanisms to jointly serve the ‘Healthy China’ strategy. He emphasised that Jia Law Firm and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine are poised to forge a distinctive path of collaborative innovation, complementary strengths and mutual benefit through the “university-law firm” partnership, jointly contributing their wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine and the implementation of the “Healthy China” strategy.
Zhang Xiaoyong, Party Secretary of the School of Humanities at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, explained that as a leading institution in China’s higher education for traditional Chinese medicine, the university has consistently upheld the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education. In recent years, it has made sustained efforts in programme development, interdisciplinary collaboration and practical teaching. In particular, the School of Humanities, leveraging the university’s strengths in traditional Chinese medicine disciplines, is dedicated to cultivating versatile professionals who are “well-versed in both medicine and law”. He expressed his hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to build upon broader cooperation, further deepening and solidifying collaboration in areas such as joint teaching initiatives, curriculum development and student practical training, thereby promoting the organic integration of legal theory and legal practice within higher education.
Wu Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Humanities at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, elaborated on the school’s explorations and achievements in talent development, drawing on practical experience in student affairs. He emphasised that, with society’s growing demand for multidisciplinary legal professionals, students require not only a solid theoretical foundation but also the opportunity to hone their practical skills in real-world legal service settings. He expressed his hope to establish a regular mechanism for student placements with JAVY Law Firm, enabling the firm to participate in students’ career planning education, provide insights into industry trends and employment guidance, and jointly build a talent development chain comprising “university training + law firm practical training + industry employment”.
During the exchange, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including education and teaching, talent development, and legal practice, in an atmosphere that was both lively and pragmatic.
In the future, JAVY Law Firm and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine will leverage their respective strengths to further deepen cooperation in areas such as the development of practical teaching bases, research into the rule of law in medicine and healthcare, and the establishment of interdisciplinary exchange platforms. Together, they will promote the integrated development of legal education and legal practice, making a positive contribution to the nation’s rule of law initiatives and the Healthy China strategy.
