On September 8th, JAVY’s criminal law research committee held a seminar on contract fraud law in our Beijing office, the seminar was presided by committee director Guan Jingxin, joined by deputy directors An Hongpeng and Yuan Jun, Secretary Zhang Danfeng and member Yang Lige.

Mr. Guan began the discussion with the crime components of fraud and contract fraud in Chinese law, he then talked about the difference between contract fraud as a crime and civil fraud, sharing theories and cases to illustrate the topics.

The members then joined an insightful & intense debate on the legal definition of different frauds, as well as the intent of the crime, and the dos and don’ts in representing such cases. Many of the committee members served in procuratorates, courts and police force, they all shared views from their unique perspective and background.
