Recently, Ge Youshan Esq., executive director of JAVY, was appointed as a public interest litigation volunteer of Yixin Weigong, an online platform hosted by the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China aims to serve public interest litigations, the appointor is Beijing People’s Procuratorate, and the volunteer term will be two years.
The public interest volunteers can utilize the Yixin platform to report issues that harm public interest such as environment pollution, ecology damage, food contamination, etc. They may also inspect the prosecutors’ work as a 3rd party supervisory agency to protect public interest.
Mr. Ge has worked on numerous public interest litigations on behalf of the China Consumers Association, including a consumer rights protection case against a 5-star hotel, a fraudulent bundle sales case against an insurance company, and a passenger rights protection case against Beijing Capital International Airport, etc. He has shared insights regarding the above litigations with other volunteers during the appointing meeting at the procuratorate.
