On 31 March 2025, JAVY Law Firm successfully held the ‘Young Lawyers’ Business Exchange Meeting’. The seminar was jointly hosted by the second branch of JAVY Party General Branch and the Special Committee on Brand and Culture Construction, with Ms. Wei Wei, the secretary of the third branch of JAVY Party General Branch and the main committee member of the Special Committee on Brand and Culture Construction, Mr. Zheng Xiaozhe, a member of the Joint Branch of JAVY Party General Branch, and Mr. Wang Zizhang, a member of the organisational committee of the second branch of JAVY Party General Branch, serving as the main speakers.

Wei Wei took the whole process of case undertaking as a vein, and deeply analysed the key points of each link. Before the case undertaking, she highlighted the importance of making a mind map. By drawing the mind map, the lawyer can grasp the case as a whole, sort out the core points and details of the case, while drawing the legal relationship diagram, clearly presenting the legal links between the parties, and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent work of the case.

After undertaking the case, Ms Wei suggests making a chronology of the case. Taking time as the axis, the key events, main points and actions of all parties in the case are recorded in detail, similar to the reading records, so that the development process of the case can be seen at a glance. He also shared practical tips on legal search reports, organisation of class cases, organisation of provisions involved in key issues, questioning at the stage of investigation, and writing a statement of representation.

In addition, Ms Wei pointed out that it is important to create visual work displays for clients, and through forms such as undertaking record forms, clients can intuitively understand the efforts and work carried out by the lawyers for the case, so as to enhance clients‘ trust and recognition of the lawyers’ work.

Mr Wang ZiChang focused on criminal cases and shared his unique experience in handling cases. In terms of reading transcripts of criminal cases, he demonstrated the gradual evolution from the traditional form with a table of contents to the use of a table form, and then streamlined the table to refine the key points and outline the case so that lawyers can quickly see the whole picture and accurately locate the evidence, and improve the efficiency of handling the case.

In terms of questioning opinions, wang lawyer proposed a method of questioning opinions in small groups. The different types of evidence and the main points of the questioning will be classified and organised, so that the questioning process is more clear, organised, and enhance the persuasive power of the questioning. For the writing of the defence statement, he suggested writing a summary and stating the facts of the case and the legal evaluation separately in the body of the statement. In the court investigation, as far as possible to enumerate the various issues that can be envisaged, in advance to prepare for the response, to ensure that in the trial can be coped with comfortably.

Finally, Wang also stressed the importance of case notes, including criminal case announcements, evidence presentation, and accompanying textual remarks. He also suggested doing public security dialogue simulations with the client to help clarify his thoughts, and at the same time trying his best to obtain relevant information about the suspect to provide strong support for the handling of the case.

Lawyer Zheng Xiaozhe brought new ideas to the lawyers from the perspective of knowledge expansion and practical experience. He said that in today's surging wave of the rule of law, the lawyer group should uphold an open and enterprising attitude, actively expand their knowledge, not only ploughing into the local rule of law practice, but also drawing on the international cutting-edge experience, and constantly improve their comprehensive quality and competitiveness.

In the face of important cases, Mr Zheng emphasised the need to make use of the knowledge resources within the profession and systematically comb through typical extra-territorial jurisprudence to draw experience and lessons from it, so as to achieve in-depth expansion of professional knowledge. He said that lawyers can't just limit themselves to solving the problems of legal provisions, but also have to deeply understand the relevant knowledge within the industry, integrate resources and build a composite knowledge structure. Through cross-field resource integration and in-depth industry embedded, not only to achieve the value of professional services jump, but also to accurately docking high-end customer groups of diverse needs.

At the same time, Zheng also proposed that lawyers should change their thinking and focus on cultivating the subjective consciousness of lawyers. In the current complex political environment, lawyers should learn to communicate effectively with multiple parties to maximise defence effectiveness in a dynamically balanced judicial arena.

In the exchange and discussion session, the lawyers had a lively discussion on the details of case handling, BOT projects, new three boards, integration of lawyer resources and understanding and expansion of other industries. Everyone expressed their own views and shared their insights and experiences, and the atmosphere was very active.
