From 16th to 17th October, the ‘2024 Third Pet Industry Conference’ hosted by the Pet Industry Branch of China Animal Husbandry Association was held in Hangzhou. Mr. Wang Wenyong, Senior Partner of JAVY LAW FIRM, was invited to participate in the conference and had an in-depth dialogue with representatives of the pet industry and the National People's Congress in the chapter of ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ of the conference.

Wang Wenyong focused on the problems existing in the local legislation on companion animals in China at this stage, and put forward the proposal to strengthen the legality review of local legislation by the NPC and the Standing Committee of the NPC.

This is the first time that CSR has been included in the chapters of the Pet Industry Conference, and improving the rule of law for companion animals is one of the CSRs that the Association and the business community are very concerned about. Now, JAVY LAW FIRM is actively exploring matters related to the ‘Rule of Law Forum for Companion Animal Industry’ with the Association. It is expected that the forum will be held on a regular basis every year to strengthen the communication between the pet industry and the environmental protection law, especially the animal protection law, and to jointly study and promote the progress of the rule of law in China's companion animal industry.

‘The Third Pet Industry Conference is an annual event for the pet industry organised by the Pet Industry Branch of the China Animal Husbandry Association (CAHA), which is a national social organisation composed of pet food, pet supplies, pet medicine and treatment, pet breeding, pet service industry and other related enterprises and institutions, scientific research institutes and local associations. The main person in charge of the China Animal Husbandry Association, relevant departments and offices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, leading enterprises in the pet industry and senior managers of innovative enterprises in the industry attended the conference, and Zhao Wanping, vice president of the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, who was a deputy to the National People's Congress for three consecutive terms, participated in the conference and made a report on the advancement of legislation on companion animals. The conference gathered important guests and experts and scholars from government departments, leading enterprises in the industry, academic institutions, etc. More than 400 pet industry-related practitioners gathered at the scene to discuss the future development path of the pet industry, CCTV network pet watchers and other media attended the conference and made a report.
