On April 30th, the "Expert Consultation Meeting on Wildlife Trade Governance Legislation Research" was held in Beijing, organized by China University of Political Science and Law. Wang Wenyong Esq., senior partner at JAVY Law Firm specializing in ecological and environmental law, participated and delivered a keynote speech on the "Theory and Practice of the Rule of Law on the Governance of China's Wildlife Trade."
Experts from various universities and organizations, including Beijing Forestry University, Renmin University of China, and the International Fund for Animal Welfare, also attended.
Mr. Wang proposed three legislative recommendations to enhance public participation in environmental protection laws:
1. Media and Lawyer Involvement: Legislative hearings should be open to media and include environmental lawyers to ensure transparency and legal accuracy.
2. Speech Immunity: Participants in legislative hearings or public interest litigation should have immunity to encourage open and honest discourse.
3. Live Broadcasting: All environmental public interest litigation hearings should be live-streamed to ensure public access and oversight.
JAVY Law Firm is committed to wildlife trade law and will continue contributing to ecological and biodiversity protection in China through its legal expertise.
