Environment protection is becoming more and more important in the modern society, and it is vital to utilize public interest litigation as a tool when faced with pollution and other damage the ecosystem. On May 18th 2023, JAVY hosted a seminar on the role of public interest litigations in environment protection, with Wang Wenyong Esq., deputy director of Beijing lawyers’ Association’s environment and natural resource protection committee as the lecturer, the meeting is joined by JAVY partners Sun Ying, Yu Hanjun and Tian Qiuying as well as other 20 lawyers.
Mr. Wang introduced to the listeners about the current challenges of public interest litigations, and shared his insight on several cases he has worked on. Then Ms. Sun analyzed the regulations on lawyer fee in public interest litigations. The other lawyers also shared their experience on the topic, discussing the technical details in such litigations. The discussion ended on a high note with exchange of knowledge and sparks of insights.
