Q1Welcome lawyer Kangpu to join the Jay family. Please briefly introduce your career, social position, honors and other information.

Lawyer KangPu:

Hello, everyone. I'm glad to join Jay. I graduated from China University of political science and law with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the people's Public Security University of China. I have successively obtained a bachelor's degree in law and a master's degree in law, focusing on criminal procedure law. In 2014, he began to work in the second criminal trial division of Xing'an League intermediate people's Court of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and handled a large number of job-related crimes and economic crimes. During my work in the court, I also served as secretary of the Youth League Committee and member of the Discipline Committee of the Party committee of the hospital, responsible for the organization, management, discipline inspection and supervision of the young policemen of the hospital. In 2018 and 2019, I won the academy level advanced individual for two consecutive years, and won the first prize in the judicial investigation and comparison of the high court of the autonomous region. In 2020, I resigned from public office and joined Beijing Zhonglun law firm, focusing on the defense and agency prosecution of job-related crimes and economic crimes. This year, I have the honor to become a member of Jay, and continue to specialize in the defense and prosecution of the above two types of cases.

Q2What is the opportunity for you to join Jay? What is your impression of Jay?

Lawyer KangPu:

As a legal worker who has worked in the judiciary for many years, when choosing a law firm, I mainly focused on the size, operation mode, development space, reputation and office environment of the law firm. At that time, I made some investigations on major law firms in Beijing through the Internet, telephone consultation, interview and other means. Comparatively speaking, Jay not only has appropriate scale, superior system, numerous talents and elegant environment, but also the development ideas and business direction of the law firm are in line with my practice philosophy, and it can also provide appropriate development space for young lawyers. Therefore, I chose to practice here without hesitation. During the six months in Jay, I not only felt the dedication and enthusiasm of my colleagues, but also benefited a lot from the firm's pioneering atmosphere and humanized management mode. In the future, I hope to grow and progress together with the firm.

Q3What areas of legal services have you been committed to since your practice? What are the reasons for choosing the above areas?

Lawyer KangPu:

Since I started my career, I have been specializing in criminal defense and prosecution. I have worked in the Criminal Court of the court for eight years. It can be said that I have been deeply cultivated in this field for many years. On the one hand, I am very familiar with such cases and have the ability to provide customers with conscientious services. On the other hand, I hope that I can make some contributions to the progress and improvement of criminal justice through my own cases. When I was working in the court, I had conducted special thinking and Research on the procedural improvement, human rights protection, evidentiary standards, charge application and other issues in the field of criminal justice. Now I have changed my status as a lawyer and re examined the contents of my thinking and research from another perspective. I have deeper feelings and more experiences. Therefore, I hope to put forward some of my own views and propositions through the study of my business, Then it can be applied to specific cases of criminal defense and agency accusation, in order to help more people safeguard their legitimate rights and interests and obtain fair litigation results.

Q4What do you think are the difficulties in handling cases in this field?

Lawyer KangPu:

The difficulties of criminal defense business mainly lie in the field of judicial practice, including the following points: first, there is great psychological pressure. Criminal defense lawyers are the external forces that suspect and defendants mainly rely on in criminal proceedings. They often place great expectations on lawyers and litigation results, which will directly translate into the pressure of lawyers to handle cases. Second, political and social factors will affect the litigation results of some cases. Third, the litigation status and rights of the prosecution and the defense are not equal, and the procedural and substantive rights of the suspect and the defendant are not adequately guaranteed. Fourth, there are many restrictions on Lawyers' practice, and it is difficult to carry out work. The long-standing problems in practice, such as meeting, marking, investigation and evidence collection, and witnesses' appearing in court, have not been effectively solved so far.

Q5What do you think are the criteria for a good criminal lawyer?

Lawyer KangPu:

In my opinion, strong professional skills and a strong sense of responsibility are the core criteria to measure an excellent criminal defense lawyer. Mr. wumengchao, the father of Chinese hepatobiliary surgery, said that a good doctor looks at diseases in his eyes and thinks about people in his heart. The same goes for lawyers. An excellent lawyer looks at the case in his eyes and thinks of people in his heart. Because what we handle is not only the case, but also the life of the parties, and even the future of several families. Therefore, the sense of responsibility is the primary premise for every criminal defense lawyer to handle cases. In addition to responsibility, business ability is also important. Only with excellent professional skills can we help the parties find out the problems of the case, safeguard the litigation rights of the parties, accurately sort out and judge the evidence, and put forward reasonable defense opinions to the judicial organs in accordance with the law and regulations.

Q6What are your personal goals for the last three to five years?

Lawyer KangPu:

I hope to accumulate rich practical experience in three to five years, grow into a trusted criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible, and provide more customers with high-quality legal services. While making progress in my personal career, I also hope I can make some contributions to the development of the firm, grow together with Jay and seek common development.
